What happens during our free
15-minute telephone consultation?
During our telephone consultation, I will offer you the chance to mention the reasons that you are thinking about having counselling, what you would hope to achieve from counselling and ask any questions you may have about therapy. Doing so will not only help you clarify why you are seeking professional help but will help us decide whether we can work together or whether I might be the right person to help you.

If you decide to arrange for our first consultation, before our initial appointment you could make a note of the following, though this is not compulsory:

Any issues, concerns, or symptoms you are coping with, even if they seem to be unrelated or are not the reason why you are seeking therapy
Key personal information, including any major stresses or recent life changes
All medications you might be taking, including doses

During our first meeting, I will ask you to talk to me about the challenges you are facing in your life so that I can get a good overview of the issues. We will discuss details of the area/s you wish to focus on and we will devise a plan together on how best to explore these. We will negotiate on the number of sessions, depending on the nature of the issues and your availability.
